Painting Practice

Picked up a Tom Lovell artbook awhile ago and figured I'd use it as an excuse to practise something in his style. Also wanted to push what I knew about image composition and plotted a lot of underlying elements into the base drawing that hopefully should come through subconsciously when looking at the finished painting.

Final

Golden Ratio ends where the two characters faces meet.

Arabesque adds elegant movement and a unity between the two characters.

Adding more unity by reinforcing the circular element of an embrace with the larger outer circle enclosing everything.

I used opposing directions to add rhythm and have the lines intersect closer to the faces.

Use of 90degree angles to lock the characters together.
